COP CHAIRMAN, APS. DR. OPOKU ONYINAH ON 'STEWARDS' AT NOVEMBER HEADS MEETING

A CHRISTIAN STEWARD MUST BE IDENTICAL TO AND IDENTIFIED WITH HIS MASTER - CHAIRMAN

Christians have been told to develop a strong relationship with God if they are to live up to the standard as His Stewards.
The Chairman, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, who made this assertion at the on-going November Heads meeting at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), said that, like Christ, stewards of God are expected to know their master and exactly what He wants.
This, according to him, can only be made possible, when Christians are constantly in touch with God through His word and prayers.
He noted that when Christians develop a strong bond with God, He will reside in them and they will begin to assume his nature and likeness. This, he said, would consequently direct them towards what God expects of them. He added that, in this way, they would attain both human and divine status.
The Chairman therefore emphasized that “a Christian steward must be identical to and identified with his master”.
Using the Parables of the Pounds and Ten Talents in Matthew 25:14-30 and Luke 19:11-27 to further illustrate his point, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah drew the attention of participants to the fact that on both occasions when the master handed over his assets to his stewards, he made no mention of what or how he expected it to be utilized. However, when he returned; each steward was required to render accounts on what they were given.
According to him, this was because, as His stewards, God expects them to know Him and His will; which meant that, He is expecting them to know how He wants them to handle what He had given to them.
“When you understand someone very well, he or she doesn’t have to give you detailed instructions all the time, given that by your knowledge of the person’s character and nature; you would be able to tell how they would want their things done,” he further explained.
As a result, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah  encouraged Christians to commit to knowing God by studying His word and praying fervently, so they will be more equipped with spiritual gifts and endowed with the knowledge of God’s kingdom and His gospel, which the Master Jesus has entrusted into their care.
“The master has charged us to spread the knowledge of the kingdom; and He expects us to occupy ourselves with His work until He comes” he said.
The Heads meeting in November is specially organised for the leadership of The Church of Pentecost to strategize for the coming year through fasting, prayer and sharing of the word of God. It is under the theme  “BEING A GOOD STEWARD OF GOD IN MY GENERATION”, Matthew 25:21
